OSIDA MILESTONES

 

 

    • 2006

      June 12, 2006 - Oklahoma Space Industry Development Authority signs a Letter Of Agreement with Fort Worth ARTC Center (ZFW) that provides procedures for the integration of licensed launch operations into the National Airspace System from the Oklahoma Spaceport at Clinton-Sherman.

       

      June 12,2006 - Licensing and Safety Division of the Commercial Space Transportation Division of the FAA Carole Flores signs the Launch Site Operator License for OSIDA.

      May 26, 2006 -The Oklahoma Space Industry Development Authority is anxiously awaiting licensing determination from FAA/AST on their application for a Launch Site Operators License. They hope to receive the license in the near future.

       

      May 10,2006 - Oklahoma Spaceport tenet Rocketplane Kistler Aerospace makes it to the final six contenders for the NASA COTS program contract to re-supply the International Space Station. See OSIDA News button on the left for more details.

       

      May 5, 2006 - Patricia Grace Smith Associate Administrator for Commercial Space Transportation signed the National Registry issuing a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI), a determination that issuing a launch site operator license to OSIDA for the Clinton-Sherman Industrial Airpark (CSIA) would not significantly affect the quality of the human environment within the meaning of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The FAA also determined that the transfer of ownership of the CSIA from Clinton, Oklahoma to OSIDA would not significantly affect the quality of the human environment within the meaning of NEPA.

       

      March 9, 2006 - Attendance was excellent at the public meeting on the Oklahoma Spaceport Draft Environmental Assessment, the purpose of which was to gather public comments regarding the Draft Environmental Assessment of the proposed use of the Oklahoma Spaceport as a facility for launching and landing sub-orbital launch vehicles. The report concluded that no significant impacts are associated with any environmental resource area. The meeting marks one of the final steps leading to the FAA Office of Commercial Space Transportation issues a commercial launch site operator license to OSIDA.

       

      Early Spring – OSIDA anticipates receiving a Launch Site Operator’s License from the FAA Office of Commercial Space Transportation (AST), making the Oklahoma Spaceport the first inland launch site to use the National Airspace System (NAS). This designation offers space launch operators an advantage over other spaceports, which utilize military airspace and present possible conflicts with military operations. The Oklahoma Spaceport will specialize in horizontal take-off and landing of Reusable Launch Vehicles (RLVs).

       

      Summer - OSIDA will begin programs for student education in rocketry, science and mathematics with $1 million of federal funding that was secured through the help of U.S. Third District Congressman Frank Lucas.

       

      Late Summer – Rocketplane expects to begin flight test operations from the Oklahoma Spaceport.

    • OSIDA completes required Environmental Impact Statement and Safety Study required for licensure by the FAA Office of Commercial Space Transportation (AST).

       

    • 2004
    • Federal Aviation Administration approves the transfer of title of the Clinton-Sherman Industrial Airpark to the State of Oklahoma.

       

    • 2003
    • OSIDA receives $250,000 in Federal grant money from NASA to support and promote space education in Oklahoma. OSIDA administered 10 grants to selected educational recipients across the state without fee charges.

      Oklahoma Department of Commerce and the Oklahoma Tax Commission select Rocketplane Ltd. as the qualified space transportation provider to receive investment tax credits.

      Rocketplane Ltd., OSIDA’s first Spaceport tenant, initiates the largest venture capital start-up investment in the U.S. telecommunications/space field.
